Volunteer Roles

YOUR Museum has a variety of ways that volunteers can get involved! Below is a breakdown of the different opportunities available to you as a volunteer. If you have a skill you would like to share with us that is not listed, please let us know!

Office/Front Desk

WCHM’s Office Volunteers work in a clerical and/or visitors services capacity. Volunteers help staff prepare mailings and flyers, greet visitors, and other tasks as they arise.

Collections/Curatorial

WCHM’s Collections and Curatorial Volunteers work to help the museum preserve, research, and care for our vast collections. Volunteers help staff rehouse, move, research, and perform preventative conservation on artifacts as needed.

Exhibits

WCHM’s Exhibits Volunteers work to help the museum create exhibit experiences for our visitors. Volunteers help staff create, develop, install and deinstall exhibits throughout the museum.

  • Exhibit Fabrication

WCHM’s Exhibit Building Volunteers work to help the museum build exhibit structures and interactive exhibit elements throughout the museum buildings.

Programs/Educational Outreach

WCHM’s Programs and Educational Outreach Volunteers work to help the museum prepare & facilitate K – 12, family, and public Programs. Volunteers may also help at outreach events that educate the public about the museum and its educational offerings.

  • Docents

WCHM’s Docents lead our K-12 School Fieldtrip Tours. Docents are trained on our general tour and help suggest and research topics of interest for the tour guidebook.

Museum Beautification/Buildings & Grounds

WCHM’s Beautification & Buildings & Grounds Volunteers work both inside the museum buildings and outdoors on the grounds to help the museum keep everything in tip-top shape. Landscaping, planting, weeding, painting, and building maintenance are some of many ways our volunteers keep our museum and grounds inviting & beautiful.

Haunted Museum/Boo Crew
