Our 2019 Speaker Series offers a deeper look into topics relating to Wayne County History and the collections of YOUR Wayne County Historical Museum. Our speaker series is free with a suggested donation unless otherwise noted.

Saturday June 29, 2019 6:30 – 8:00 pm Celebrate National Poetry Month! Shari Wagner was Indiana’s fifth Poet Laureate (2016-2017) and the author of  a two books of poems: The Harmonist at Nightfall: Poems of Indiana and Evening Chore. Will be doing a reading, and authors book signing about The Farm Wife’s Almanac which also focuses on a nature theme.

Saturday July 17, 2019 6:00 – 9:00 pm Wayne County’s Historic Hauntings Nicole Kobrowski owner of Historic Ghostwalks & Tours and author of several books on haunted Indiana will be doing a talk on Wayne County Historic Hauntings with a guided ghost tour /investigation of the museum. $15.00/ person, advanced reservations required. 18+

Saturday August 17, 2019 6:30 – 8:30 pm Mysteries of the Mummy’s Coffin Mike & Corinne Deibel Professors of Chemistry from Earlham will be doing a talk about the types of research they are doing on our mummy’s coffin and instrumentation used to obtain the research.

November 9, 2019 Adult Speaker Series-Tom Hamm- Earlham History Department and Author Talk about the Hicksite Quakers (our museum’s main building is a former Hicksite Meeting House) in Wayne County and how they have influenced the community over time.                                      6 – 7:30 pm $5.00 suggested donation.

December 7th or 14th 2019– Victorian Holiday Traditions– Alisa Clapp-Itnyre -I.U. East History Professor 6 – 7:30 pm $5.00 suggested donation.

Come meet drivers, owners and sponsors related to Wayne County Racing and beyond! Don your 50’s and 60’s attire and celebrate the heyday of racing at Richmond Midget Stadium. Be among the first to experience our 2019 Signature Exhibit-Wayne County: Indiana’s Gateway to Racing.
Enjoy concessions from Schunk’s and Big Poppa’s Pork Pit Food Truck.
DJ Stuck in the Middle will be rockin’ around the clock in the courtyard with some oldies but goodies.
For an extra treat, take a ride around the block in a historic Model T Ford courtesy of the Model T Ford Club. ($2.00 suggested donation per person per ride, proceeds go to the Model T Ford Club and WCHM Programs)

Wayne County: Indiana’s Gateway to Racing Signature Dinner

Help support Your Wayne County Historical Museum and celebrate the incredible racing history of Wayne County at our annual fundraising dinner! From Ostrich Races at the Arboretum, to the heyday of midget car racing at Richmond Midget Stadium, Wayne County: Indiana’s Gateway to Racing Signature Dinner will highlight the racing history of Wayne County. A five star dinner catered by Old Richmond Inn, 4 guest speakers, and a premiere look at our newest exhibit, Wayne County:Indiana’s Gateway to Racing. Our guest speakers include:

TALES FROM THE DEPARTED

Held at Earlham Cemetery this Walking Tour will be storytelling by characters in costume depicting people from Richmond’s past.  $10 per Car.  *In case of inclement weather this event will be held at the WCHM.

HAUNTED MUSEUM

One of our most popular and sought after events of the year “Haunted Museum” is fun for the entire family!  Children receive treats throughout the decorated museum and we encourage entire families to dress in costume, but not a requirement.
